Zdenek Burian
The artist Zdenek Burian was born in 1905 in Moravia, Czechoslovakia, where,apart from a
trip to nearby Italy during the late thirties, he spend all his life.
Burian was an excellent depicter of prehistoric life, and he illustrated over 500 books, stories and articles before his death in 1981, among them some of the best reconstructions of
prehistoric Proboscideans ever made.
His production combines an extraordinairy eye for details,
and has at the same time often a dramatic tone, which brings life to
his paintings of prehistoric animals and they landscape where they roamed.
