2014-09-14: The carcass of the two-year-old male elephant was spotted at Chinnadi forest under the Begur range of the North Wayanad Forest Division.

The calf was infected with Elephant Endotheliotropic Herpes Virus (EEHV) , a virus evolved in Asiatic Elephants, Arun Zachariah, Assistant Professor, Centre for Wildlife Studies, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Science University, told The Hindu after a viral genome analysis of the sample collected from the animal.
