Contradictory records:

Because Zoo Alma-Ata stated official birth year 1970-05-24 EEG state this in Documentation I, but this was corrected by Zoo Karaganda in December 1992.
EEG state arrival in Karaganda as to 1974-05-27.

Batyr was rejected from the mother and hand-reared as calf. Batyr first became famous in 1977 when a nightwatchman reported hearing the eight year old Indian elephant talking to himself.
