Nelly was the first elephant by circus Kludsky, bought for 8500 Marks.

Nelly was with the circus at least since 1902. In 1902 she had problems from a fistula at the hip, which affected her right backleg, but after operation by professor Drexler in Prag university, she regained her health. (Described in Brehms Tierleben, Band 12, page 573)

She died 1905 when somebody poisoned her by arsenic in Bozen (engl. Bolzano) in South Tyrol.
