Jumbaroo in Perry Brothers Circus

MR. SCADDAN'S ELEPHANT .
Perth, May 21.
The elephant presented to the Perth Zoo by the Government of the Federated Malay States arrived at Fremantle on the Kangaroo today. The animal's departure from his native land was not without incident. While the Kangaroo was loading at Peeloch Samato, a Dutch island near Singapore, the elephant as saulted the chief officer (Mr Clayton), breaking. three of the officer's ribs and bruising him somewhat badly. That night the elephant broke his chains and started to explore the deck. In doing so he walked over the hatchways, and one of these. not having been built for elephants, collapsed, and Jumbo fell 24 Feet on to some benzine cases. He luckily escaped damage, but it took the entire crew some considerable time to extract him from the hold. He caused no further trouble, Jumbo was caught when a small` calf in 1907, so that he is now in his teens."

1922: Mr Le Souef sold Jumboroo to Perry’s Circus for fifty pounds
