Mae is a prefix name, used in Burma, Laos and Thailand for female elephants, often for females who had babies. (Mae means mother)

Over the past 3.5 years, Mae Ven was taking care of her calf, Suriya, and she had another two babies before. She is a very good mum and although she is around 40 years old now she can probably still have another calf because she has had several babies in the past.
