Swe San Thay was born captive-born 1979-11-28 at Yangon Zoo (Rangoon Zoo). and imported 1988 by E.A.G. van den Brink, By boat from Rangoon, Burma to Rotterdam


Comments / pictures

In June 1988, the Emmen Zoo imported seven Asian elephants from Burma. These seven would form the Heart of the Herd to later birth many calves.

In February 2010, keepers found Swe San Thay dead in the barn during morning inspections. No apparent cause of death of found preceding Necropsy.

Swe San Thay means "golden abundance" in Burmese.
