Elephants trumpet and make trumpeting sounds when they are excited, fearful, or happy, often followed by a roar, or Infrasound when they communicate on distance'>Rumbling.

The sound is produced by a forceful expulsion of air through the Trunk, much similair to a trumpeter who play atrumpet or a trombone sound especially when playing “brassy”.
