Aliya is a term for an elephant in Sri Lanka, altough it means specifically a Tuskless elephant, it is used generally about elephants.

Mostly on this island, when Mahouts address their tame elephant, they dont use the name, nut simply command it Elephant: do this! like Aliya Billah, (Elephant: lift your leg)
