The Navam Maha Perahera began in 1979, under the helm of Ven Galboda Gnanissara Thero of the Gangaramaya Temple.




The 22 year old bull Kandula from Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara temple is for the first time lead elephant at the 33:rd annual Nawam Maha Perahera at Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo.
