Comments / picturesFrank Paulo, and his wife Clara founded the circus before the war.

1929: Clara run the circus after Frank’s death from pneumonia in 1929. They had eight children.
1949: The original show closed in 1949.
1983: The show reopened in 1983 by their daughter Clara, and her husband Kenneth MacManus.
Born in the Lake District in a wooden circus wagon on December 26 1921, Clara Paulo was a third generation circus performer. Her grandfather, William Wilson, was a fairground showman and her grandmother, Elizabeth Silvester, a circus artiste.
2000: In 2000, their grandson Kenny Darnell and his children successfully revived the family travelling show.
2001: Clara died 2001, survived by her husband Ken MacManus.
