Der belgische Elefantenführer Jean Jansen trieb den dressierten Koloss, der wohl aus holländischen Kolonien stammte, von Würzburg aus in Richtung Bamberg und Nürnberg, um endlich die Kaiserstadt Wien zu erreichen.

House no. 7 in the present Elefantengasse (elephant street, named after the occasion), where an elephant depiction from the same period was installed up to 1945, is reminiscent of his stay in Würzburg. a stone elephant can be seen on the outside wall. Further news about elephants at fairs and fairs in Munich and Frankfurt come from 1695.

The elephant was owned by Bertel Verhagen, and after touring Europe in the 1680s. When Bartel Verhagen died in 1703, his assistant Jan Janszoon rented the elephant to Abraham Sever who brought her to Scotland and Edinburgh. The elephant died in Dundee 1704.
