Furuviksparken, in Gavle, Sweden , was founded in 1936 and the first elephant arrived in 1936.


Comments / picturesFuruviksparken was founded in 1900 by Oscar Jakobsson and officially opened by count Olle Cronstedt.

1936: Taku arrived.
1938 the zoo was bought by Gösta Nygren, who managed the zoo for 45 years.
1943-1944: 4 elephants came from Circus Busch (Paul Busch) in Germany with the trainer Franz Adamski.
1950: 2 elephants bought
