Puntali cave, located at Via Grotte, in Carini, Italy .


Comments / picturesThe integral nature reserve Grotta dei Puntali is a protected natural area located in the municipality of Carini , in the metropolitan city of Palermo. The cave is of high paleontological interest documented by findings ranging from the Upper Palaeolithic to the Bronze Age.

The site was excavated between 1868 and 1870, and produced a large collection of elephant remains, including complete skulls and isolated postcranials, most of which are now stored in the Museo di Paleontologia of the University of Palermo.
