Loxodonta

Genus Loxodonta, (from Greek Loxo: meaning slanting, and odonta: meaning tooth) belonging to the family of elephants, elephantidae, named by Cuvier 1825.

Fossils from Loxodonta has only been found in Africa, wher they developed in the middle Pliocene.
