The first recorded medical treatment of an elephant is that of the elephant 'Kadol Etha' belonging to King Dutugemunu (161-137 BC).

It is also said in folklore that King Dutugemunu's royal elephant (Kadol Atha) was an elephant that was found from (Kadol Kalle) area (Negombo)
