Before Mae Boon Mee arrived at MaeTaeng Elephant Park, she worked in the logging camps. Mae Boon Mee worked from 7am until 3pm and some days until dark. Mae Boon mee was never fed stimulants to work longer days. Of course feeding the elephants stimulants was a widely used practice throughout the logging industry that employed elephants to haul logs. Mae Boon Mee , escaped that abuse only because her Mahout comes from 7 generations of Mahouts, whom have had the same family members of elephants throughout the decades. The elephants are truly extended family members. Mae boon Mee arrived in the Park in 2004. Mae Boon Mee, works around 2 hrs. a day at the park. The rest of her day is spent in the rivers and jungle nearby.
