Pang is a prefix name, used in Thailand for female elephants.
Pang MoTor was born captive-born 1997? at Thailand unspecified location.
Phang MoTor (Thorani) was admitted to the Elephant Hospital of the Friends of the Asian Elephant Foundation on January 27, 2025, with symptoms of abdominal bloating and distension. The elephant was lethargic, ate bananas (peeled), but did not eat tamarind or drink water and appeared rather thin. The treatment administered included: - 30 liters of fluids on the first day (20 liters were given at the elephant camp and during the transport to the hospital, and an additional 10 liters at the hospital). - The elephant was given vitamin supplements, digestive stimulants, and Medication for abdominal cramps. After the IV was removed, the elephant was allowed to rest. She lay down and slept comfortably, and overnight, defecated twice with normal stool. On January 28, in the morning, the Abdomen was still distended, but she could pass gas independently, though it still wasn't drinking water. Accordingly, another 40 liters of fluids were administered, along with vitamin supplements, digestive stimulants, and Medication for abdominal cramps. From morning to evening, the elephant defecated six times and passed gas intermittently. The abdominal distension reduced, revealing the flanks, and she began drinking water, consuming five liters. By January 29, the abdominal distention had further decreased, clearly revealing the flanks. The elephant showed signs of hunger, so short-cut grass was introduced to the diet, and fluid administration ceased while vitamin injections continued. On January 31, the elephant exhibited normal feeding and defecation patterns. Vitamin injections were replaced with oral multivitamin capsules hidden in bananas. Currently, Phang MoTor eats and drinks well, defecates normally, sleeps comfortably on her side at night, and exercises every morning and evening. However, she remains somewhat thin, so the doctors recommend continued rehabilitation for improved health.
