71 was born wild 1982 at Hwange National Park (Wankie game reserve). and imported 1984 by Jumbolair (Arthur Jones), Air, private Boeing 707

Named 71 for the tag number she was assigned when captured as a baby.

1986: According to PAWS, when she arrived at PAWS in 1986, 71 was malnourished and chronically sick. Handlers had to sleep with her and bottle feed her until she could eat on her own.
