The northamerican studbook for african elephants list Dohani as dead 9th of September 2001. An online news article however, stated at September 5, 2001: Dohani was found dead at 7:15 Sunday morning. He died from a blow to the chest from his mother's tusk. He suffered two broken ribs and a deep puncture to his chest, said Joel Parrott, executive director for the zoo.
