Flora was born wild 1982, captured 2002 .
According to circus historian Dominique Jando, Flora arrived to SoyuzGosTsirk (Government Circus in USSR) 1982, from Africa, being the first African elephant on a russian circus, and Flora was trained by Anatoly Alexandrovich Kornilov (1924-1991) and his wife Nina Andreyevna Kornilova. 1984: Anatoly Kornilov became manager of Riga’s circus and Flora was relocated to Riga, and after Anatoly and Nina retired, their daughter Taisiya Kornilova and her husband Aleksei Stepanovich Dementiev (1961-2001) took over the circus in Riga, and Flora was trained by Aleksei. 2007: Killed elephant keeper Olga Grishina in Moscow Zoo.
