"My family and I emigrated to America when I was eight, but until then I went so many times and became friendly with the staff. When I was five my little sister was born and I remember telling all the staff about it. It was 1950 and I was so excited. My parents named her after my favourite Sally doll and when I told the zoo they said they liked the name and decided to name the new elephant that. I was delighted. "I still tease Sally to this day that an elephant was named after her, and all the family laugh about it. I moved back to Edinburgh in 1966 while Sally stayed in America, and every time she came back we would go to Edinburgh Zoo.
