During some winters, Nelly and Moni were winterstabled at Karlsruhe Zoo. In season 1956 nelly became aggressive, had to be chained during the show in the ring, and was sold. according to Gerhard Zapf to Moscow Zoo. Its more likely, however, that she was purchased by Zoocentrum Moscow. Due to agressivness, she could not be unloaded in Moscow, and was shot in the trainwagon (1956).
