Origin

Izumi was born unknown 1955.

1957: The elephant, named Izumi, arrived in Japan in 1957 as a gift from Thailand.
1964: The municipal zoo had taken care of her since April 1964.
2017-04-06: The city government of Kiryu, Gunma Prefecture, said Wednesday the oldest female Asian elephant in the nation died this week at an estimated age of 62. Kiryugaoka Zoo, where the elephant lived, is investigating the cause of her death.
