Comments / pictures

Amali was the first African elephant in the world to be born via Artificial Inspemination, three months after the birth of the first Asian elephant, Haji, in Missouri. She was also the first elephant birth in the history of the Indianapolis Zoo. "Amali," which means "hope" in Arabic, was chosen via a Name the Baby contest, the winning entry submitted by a local librarian.
