Salmonella typhimurium
Small, non-sporeforming gram-negative rods, spread from rodents, contaminated food and animals with parasites.
Syndroms:
- Septicemia
- Acute Enteritis
- Chronic Enteritis
Caracterics
- Watery faeces
- Faeces contaminated with blood, mucus or fibrinous material
- Abdominal pain
- Soil eating
Diagnosis:
- Faecal samples
- Blood analysis showing neutropaenia
- Soil eating
Treatment:
- Ampicillin
- Anti-inflammatoric drug
- Anti-biogram
