Comments / picturesThe garden currently fills 500 out of the 600 acres.

1954: Pisit and Nongnooch Tansacha purchased the 600 acre plot of land in 1954 with the intentions of developing the land as a fruit plantation. However, the owners instead decided to plant tropical flowers and plants as a wildlife conservation project.

1980: The garden opened to the public in 1980.

2001: The management was transferred to Pisit and Nongnooch's son Kampon Tansacha in 2001.

2001: British citizen Andrea Taylor, 20, suffered fatal internal injuries after she was attacked by the rampaging elephant in April 2001. Miss Taylor died from massive internal injuries, probably caused by the elephant's tusk.

2020: female baby was born on October 19 to parents father Ning Nong, 25, and mother Pailin, 19, and was given the name Opal, the sixth elephant born this year and 97th at Nong Nooch Garden. Pailin had given birth to three babies before, Tubtim, 9, Mukda, 6, and Paetai, 2 and a half.
