Franconies Hippodrome, located at Fifth Avenue Hotel, in New York, United States , was founded in 1853. Franconies Hippodrome closed down in 1856.


Comments / picturesFranconi\'s Hippodrome was a elliptical shaped structure 338 Feet by 196.5 Feet, with a seating capacity of 10,000 people.

1853: It was in 1853 that Franconi’s Hippodrome opened in New York, the property of Richard Sands, Avery Smith, Seth B. Howes and G. C. Quick. Founded by Seth B. Howes, but Henri Narcisse Franconi from Circues Franconi in Paris was the front name for the Franconi’s Hippodrome which opened in New York on May 2, 1853.

The arena was active with more or less successes until 1856, when it is demolished to make way for the Fifth Avenue Hotel.
