Thekkampatti elephant rejuvenation camp, located in Mettupalayam , in India, was founded in 2012, opened for public in 2012.
Located on a five-acre piece of land close to Vanabhadrakali Amman Temple in Thekkampatti near Mettupalayam. The camp is close to the Bhavani River allowing the animals easy access to water. Previously, the rejuvenation camp founded in 2003, was located at Theppakadu. By choosing Mettuppalayam, temple elephants will no longer have to make the difficult journey in trucks to Theppakadu on top of the Nilgiri hills through the winding ghat roads. The camp, an initiative by former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, is being held at Thekkampatti since 2012. The first four camps, in 2003, 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2011-12, were held at Theppakadu in Mudumalai.
