Description

Riddles Elephant and Wildlife Sanctuary elephants, located at P.O. Box 715, in Greenbrier, Arkansas, United States , was founded in 1990 and the first elephant arrived in 1990. The last elephant left in 2020.. Riddles Elephant and Wildlife Sanctuary elephants closed down in 2020.


Comments / picturesRiddles is located a couple of miles down a bumpy, gravel road off highway 25 between Guy and Quitman. Head past Greenbrier and look for a really small sign with an elephant on it. They are only open to the public on the first Saturday of every month from 11:00 to 3:00 with "Elephant Experience Weekends" scheduled throughout the year. Call 501-589-3291 or visit their site for more details.

1986: In March 1986, Scott and Heidi Riddle purchased 1.4 African elephants from Arthur Jones - Solomon, Felix, Msichana, Mokala and Mugsy. Msichana and Mokala were given to the Lee Richardson Zoo five months later after the death of Twinkles at the Kansas institution. Felix was transferred to another location the following year until her return in 1996 and sold again (pregnant) in 2007 to the Maryland Zoo with Tuffy. Mugsy and Solomon remained at the Arkansas farm until their deaths in 1996 and 2008, respectively.

2008-02-05: African bull Solomon died, 25 years old. Solomon arrived 1986-07-31 from Jumbolair (Arthur Jones).

2009 august: African bull Willie died, 30 years old. Willie arrived 1997-06-20 from Zoo Miami (Miami Metro Zoo).

2020-09-29: The sanctuary announced on their Facebook the death of †Peggy, from natural causes.





2020-11-02: The last elephant Booper was relocated to Tulsa Zoo.
