Description

Circus Benneweis, in Dronningmoelle, Denmark , was founded in 1887. The last elephant left in 1994. Circus Benneweis closed down in 2015.

  1. 1994: elephant trainer Kim Benneweis attacked by Siam. the elephant trainer Kim Benneweis, and almost killed him in the ring, during tour in Nyborg, Denmark. Outside the tent she attacked a visiting elderly man Einar Johannes Kristensen, who was later sent to Odense hospital. Kim Benneweis Survived.
  2. 1994: visitor Einar Johannes Kristensen attacked by Siam. Outside the tent she attacked a visiting elderly man Einar Johannes Kristensen Einar Johannes Kristensen Survived. Einar Johannes Kristensen, was later sent to Odense hospital.

Comments / pictures1887: The circus was founded by Gottfried Binneweitz (1865-1933), son of August Wilhelm Binneweitz (1839-1887) from Germany.

1968: Citta, Mona, Vally, Birma, Tonny and Tagho, who performed on tour 1968.

1968: 2 elephants Thai and Siam, bought from Ingemar Forss, probably with origin from Thailand.

1969: four of the older were left

1970: 5 elephants bought from Ingemar Forss, probably with origin from India: Ceylon, Djaipur, Fredrik, India, and a small with unknown name, which died after short time.

1971: Three of the older elephants were left

1979: only two of the older elephants left

1994: none of the older elephants present anymore.

1995: All elephants sold.
