Robert Eugene Gibbs, 65, known to his family and friends as Bobby Gibbs passed away in Dallas, Texas on Sunday, July 18, 2004 following a massive stroke. He lived in Seagoville, TX. He was the eldest of six children born to Robert and Grace Gibbs. He loved animals and started his circus career as a groom for horse trainer Hazel King at Gil Gray Shrine Circus each year in Springfield, MO. Each summer he would travel with the Gil Gray Circus until he finally joined the show full time as assistant elephant trainer to Johnny Heriott. He presented his first act, a Zebu Liberty Act, with the Hamid Morton Show. He later trained and presented performing camels, horses, ponies, dogs, bears, and his beloved elephants. His circus career took him all over the United States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the Caribbean Islands. Bobby leaves his wife, the former Rosa Marie Garzon, who he wed on October 27, 1964 and siblings, Patt A. Gibbs, Casey Gibbs, Roseann Gibbs, Buck Gibbs and David (Bingo) Gibbs, and many nieces and nephews. Find a Grave
