Joan Fowles , circus animal trainer in France . Joan joined Bertram Mills Circus as an usherette and dancer when she was 16 years old. She later joined the Baker Brothers in the riding act, She also did the "Courier of St. Petersburg" and after returning to Mills Bros, she presented a bear act as "Joan's Teddy Bears" In 1951 Gösta Kruse joined Mills, took over the elephants from John Gindl, and in 1955 they married.
