1998: elephant keeper Sibangilizwe Ncube attacked by Bertha. after being chained up at the fence, grabbed Sibangilizwes foot, and pulled him towards her, trying to tusk him. Sibangilizwe Ncube Survived. Saved by Dan Koehl and Luckson Mwayemudza, who poked her with hooks, and made her release Sibangilizwe, who did not suffer critical injuries.
