James M. Cole Sr., circus director in United States

Born 1906-01-11 in United States dead 1992-12-19 .

Born and raised in Penn Yan, NY, upon graduating high school, he joined the Walter L. Main Railroad Circus in 1924. Throughout his amazing tenure in show business, he managed many major touring circuses, owned and operated his own big top show, toured the nation with his famous performing elephants, and became a circus legend.

In 1938 he founded his own Circus, which was active until 1950, when he was touring with his elephants in an independant act, until 1957

He then provided the acts for Cole All-Star Circus, starting as a school project, but soon touring nation wide.

Mr. Cole retired in 1987.
