Anarkali had joined the park way back in 1981 when she was just 20 years old.

2016-10-18: Betla National Park’s star attraction Anarkali a female elephant is seriously battling for life as her condition is sinking very fast. Sources said the pachyderm fell on the ground and since then she is not on her legs but belly on Sunday.

Confirming the transfer of the two female jumbos from Dalma to Betla, DFO Core A K Mishra said, "The jumbos from Dalma will be here soon. Anarkali will be allowed to rest and thereafter will be dispatched to Ourmanjhi based zoo in Ranchi.''
