Description

Gent Zoo, located in Gent, in Belgium, was founded in 1851, opened for public in 1851. The last elephant left in 1904. Gent Zoo closed down in 1905.

Betsy one was a very popular elephant.



1904: Betsy II/Jack hot in May 1904 after the closing of the zoo. Nobody wanted to have her, so she was killed and her body-parts were sold, including her meat.
