Seblat Elephant Conservation Center (ECC-Kerinci), located at Kerinci Seblat National Park, in Bengkulu, Indonesia , was founded in 1992.
There were l3 elephants at the centre in Kerinci Seblat in 1993 (Suprahman et. al.,1993) which increased to 57 in 1997. . .. Staff from WWF-Indonesia report that out of a Group of seven elephants sent to the Kerinci Seblat centre, only two survive, the others it is thought died from parasitic infestations, diarrhoea and lung infections (Ron Lilley, pers.comm.).
