Gerry Cottles Circus, located in United Kingdom, was founded in 1970. Gerry Cottles Circus closed down in 2005.
Founded by Gerry Cottles and his wife Betty Fossett. They had three daughters, who followed their mother into the ring, and a son, Gerry Jr.
Gerry Cottle was 15 when he ran away to the circus in 1961. His father loaned him £60 to get started and some while later, he teamed up with a friend, Brian Austen, to form Cottle Austen Circus in 1970, which in 1974 was split in Austen Brothers Circus and Gerry Cottles Circus.
In late seventies the elephants were trained by Marcel Peters, wo also joined them to Circo Mundial.
Gerry Cottle Sr ran Wookey Hole Caves, Wookey Hole, Wells, in Somerset, UK, until his death in Coronavirus 2021 in Bath, aged 75, together with his daughter Sarah Cottle, and Sarahs daughter Ellen.
