Beatty-Russell Circus in the the fourties
The center ring act was presented by
Mac McDonald
and
Norma Rogers
. The five elephants in this act were Elsie, Margaret, Myrtle, Daisy, and Dixie.
Mac McDonald
was in charge of all the animals during the fourties. His assistant was
Frenchie Durant
.
The show left Portland after the Sunday date (July 9, 1944) and moved to Vancouver, Washington, for two days. Longview was next and then Chehalis. It was here, after the night show had broken, that Lucy killed
Gabe Tucker
. Concello immediately called C. R. Montgomery who had a mink farm outside Albany, Oregon, and urged him to shelter the elephant.
