In Summer 2009, the Dickerson Park Zoo celebrated the birthdays of three of their elephants - Ol' CC turned sixty, Pinky aged to forty five and Patience turned thirty five years old. In January 2010, the Dickerson Park Zoo announced that Ol' C.C. would be taken off exhibit for a nine month treatment period of a mycobacterial infection. A routine annual blood test showed that she has been exposed to either Mycobacteria bovis or Mycobacteria tuberculosis. The culture results indicated that Minyahk was not shedding the bacteria. Pinky was taken off exhibit as well to be a companion during the aggressive treatment course. At the time, Minyahk was the oldest elephant to reside at Dickerson Park Zoo and the fifth oldest elephant living in AZA-accredited zoos.
