In April 1953, after only three months of training by Fritz Theisinger, Carl Heinrich Hagenbeck sent the eighteen-year-old Karl to Norway to replace Alfred Kaden as an elephant trainer at Circus Arnado, which was founded and managed in 1949 by the circus artist and magician Arne “Arnardo” Lorang Andersen. Kock took the Stellingen elephant cows Nepali, Mogli, Letchemi and Chandra with him.
