Marine World Africa (Redwood shores), in Redwood City, California, United States , was founded in 1968. The last elephant left in 1986. Marine World Africa (Redwood shores) closed down in 1985.


Comments / picturesMarine World began as a nonprofit animal park in Redwood City, California in 1968.

Falling into bankruptcy, Marine World was purchased in 1972 and renamed "Marine World Africa USA" after merging with a failing animal park.

In 1985 the park relocated about 55 miles away to Marine World Africa USA in Vallejo, California. This old location became known as Redwood Shores.
