Comments / pictures1863 Carl Hagenbeck started here a Zoo, which exhibited animals for sale, it was a mixture of tradehouse and Zoo.

1874: Carl shifted the company and his animals to the new location Carl Hagenbecks Tierpark at Neue Pferdemarkt in Hamburg, but his sister, Christiane Hagenbeck (1846-1905) continued with a bird market at Spielbudenplatz.

Today there is a school (Schule Ludwigstraße) and a cinema in the building, called Docks, http://www.docks.de/
