Dusit Zoo was originally a private garden with wild deer from Java, established by King Rama V, opened to the public in 1938. It has an area of 47 acres which includes 12 acres of lakes. Dusit Zoo has relocated its own elephants, but rent 3 elephants from Ayutthaya royal kraal. The previous bullcage and enclosure is used by camels.
