The clown Albert Austin Sr. (1872-1951), nicknamed Silly Albert, performed with his brother Charlie Austin in the biggest circuses in Great Britain. They worked under the name The Bandbox Clowns. Their brothers George and Harry Austin performed with "Lord" George Sangers Circus, standing on the backs of a pair of horses.
