The elephant had been abandoned by its master when it had developed wounds on legs and posterior part of the body. Director, Kanpur zoological park, K Praveen Rao informed TOI that the female elephant is ailing and weak and had therefore, been referred to the medical centre in the zoo for medical treatment. "The elephant is under strict medical observation so that it can recover at the earliest... It is being temporarily kept in the zoo and once it recovers from injuries, it will be sent to a national park," he added
