Comments / pictures

In July 1848 while Batty's Menagerie visited Tregaron, one of the elephants drank from a river and subsequently died, presumably from lead poisoning. It was rumored to have been buried in a field behind the Talbot Hotel. In early April, a small excavation was planned by the University of Wales Trinity St David's archaeology department to determine if the legends were true.
