Pang is a prefix name, used in Thailand for female elephants.

Pang Thong was born 1987.

Twenty-five-year-old Phang Thong collapsed while her Mahout was leading her on an exercise walk this morning at the elephant hospital run by the Friends of the Asian Elephant Foundation.

A post mortem examination found the body of a male baby elephant which was in the wrong position for birth. It had probably been dead for at least five days before Phang Thong’s arrival at the hospital.
