Founded 1993 by Soraida Salwala, Friends of the Asian Elephant has offered free treatment over 5,000 cases of sick & injured elephants treated since 1993. Between 1993 and 2010 FAE treated 3 326 elephants: 556 elephants at the hospital, 565 out patients, and the mobile clinic threated 2 205 elephants. Of those 57% (1010 cases) were female elephants. The majority were treated for deworming and vitamin defiency.
